These pompom baskets, handmade in Marrakech, are one of my favorite treasures in the entire shop. I just think they are amazingly cute and I might also have an issue with pompoms. Hope you guys have the same addiction. Anyways, we thought we’d show you how much fun they could add to you decor. So here are 3 different ways to use them in your decor.
They just make the coolest planters ever. Add a little bohemian fun to your home and turn your pompom basket into a planter. I really love the look with this big plant called a Strelitzia Nicolai.
This smaller basket with pompoms makes the perfect cactus planter. How cool is this cactus by the way? It’s so photogenic, I love it.
Our pompom basket also makes the cutest toy bin for your nursery. If you have a little munchkin, you know a toy bin is a must. (so many toys on the floor all the time) It might as well have pompoms.
Tadam! The floor is tidy again!
This is a little sneak peek of my pink desk at the Baba loft. The bigger basket also makes a fun paper bin! Well, I would put pompoms everywhere if I could 😉 -Stephanie
We are having a fun little giveaway via Instagram, you should check it out! 🙂 PS: These adorable milk bottle rattles are now available in our Kids section. How cute are they? -Stephanie
I’m so thrilled to finally share a peek at the Baba Souk loft! Can’t believe its already been a year since we moved into this loft and never really shared ourpictures! Having professional pictures taken was so fun, we worked with photographer Caroline Perron, and she did an awesome job capturing our colorful universe. And I’m so proud to say, our little Baba loft hasbeen featured on the Glitter Guide! (wowza! pinch me!)
The Baba loft is where I work everyday. It servesasour showroom, our office space and oftenasour photo studio. We are also happy to welcome our clients tovisit our Montreal loft. If you’d like to drop by, just make an appointment by email. Some people prefer live shopping!
Here are some Baba Souk treasures in our modular shelves. This was a DIY project my husband made for us. (And I painted each and every one of these cubes!) A long jobbut worth it, the fun part beingwe can create different shapes with the cubes. They are perfect for displaying our goodies.
This is my “famous” pink desk. It’s also a DIY project. It’s a woodendesk I paintedpink. Note to anyone who wants to try this: use some clear varnish over your paint after it dries, otherwize, thepaintpeels off! You will have to start over like I did ifyoudon’t. My desk is always a mess (those who know me well will laugh!) Let’s say I’m a creative messy person. But hey, I’m trying to improve! 😉 I love the gallery wall behind my desk, we created it with a bunch of our favorite prints. Unfortunately, it never stays orderly like this very long because that’s the white wall we use for ourphotoshoots. So it changes almost every day!
This is me being camera shy. Gosh, I wish I didn’t have this problem! I just hate being in front of a camera… what can I do? Tips please! This one turned out notso bad because Caroline captured a moment when I was laughing at myself! I find it so hard to stay natural when having my picture taken. Argggh.
This is a little inspiration board my collaborator Camille put together. It never stays the same for long either but this quote has always resonated with me. I know it sounds cheezybut it’s so true. “Surround yourself with inspiring beings”. This is like my number one life/work moto.
Here is our little munchkins corner. I think it has something to do with being a mother, (I wasn’tallthatinterested in kids stuff before becoming a mom) but now I’m all gaga for cute kids finds. I really love our kids selection. Weonlycarry handmade finds from talented designers. They make the cutest gifts for baby showers!
This is my favorite poster by artist Jordan Grace Owens. The color is so bright and cheerful, it’s the most perfect print for a nursery or a girl’sroom. I recommend it all the time. Also, hereare our favorite baby blanket, a cute woodenblocks game and our adorable cactus rattles. All handmade! Hard to resist.
This house–shaped pegboard also was a fun DIY project. We are huge fans of pegboards at the loft. So handy! I wanted one shaped like a little house (Thanks Honey!) and I painted it in this bright aqua color. I love the results and it was fairly easy and quick to make.
This spot is also forever-changing but how stunning is that rug? (I can’t believe it’s still available!!)This vintage pink chair used to belong to my great aunt. We also have lotsof Moroccan poufs allover. (Of course!)
These cool triangular plywood shelves were something I imagined and had my friend Emmelinemake! She nailed it. Fixing them to the brick wall was not a piece of cake. Who knew we needed a special bit on the drill to get through the brick?
My friend and collaborator, Camille, always makes the coolest papier mache projects. Have you seen our papier mache donut? This Baba Love heart is a keeper. The perfect quirky little thing to add to your display shelf. And two of my favorite books: The New Bohemians by Justina Blakeney (which I call The Blible) and a very creative book for those who like crafting, 25 Amazing Projects For Your Home by Beci Orpin. Books have always been a source of inspiration for me and we try to have a little library at the office in case of anycreative block problems… (which, let’s be honest, never happens!)
I don’t know what I would do witout these girls. We are a very small team but these girls mean the world to me. Camille helps me with everything creative like styling and craft projects while Charlene is my right hand (and probably my left brain too). She saves my life all the time.
We also like to throw crafting parties around here. If you live near Montreal, make sure to check on our next creative workshop. They are fun get- togethers and we get to meet a bunch of creatives and we always have a good time. Hope you enjoy this little sneak peek from behind the scenes! Cheers -Stephanie
We were so happy with our new Moroccan rug collection, we decided that in order to show you guys how cool they would look in your home, we needed to shoot them in a real decor so it would give you an idea of their full potential. This is when we decided to partner with this very cool Montreal-based company (which is making a hit in the US as well) called Breather. Have you heard of it? It’s such a cool concept. They have spaces (very cool spaces) you can rent for your meetings or for many other events like team training, small conferences, consultations with clients, workshops and hey!…photoshoots. The cool thing about Breather is that you can rent their spaces by the hour. So if you don’t have a space to run a short meeting with your clients, they have the perfect spot. (Click here for 1 free hour with coupon code BABASOUK)
I don’t want to lie to you, it was a heck of an adventure! First of all, we had to pack everything, bring all sorts of Baba treasures along with us, so we were not traveling light, if you see what I mean. To make things even wilder, we could not decide which Breather space we preferred, so we tried 3 different spots in 1 week! (Ok…that’s like moving 3 times in a week, without a guy with strong arms!) But, anyway, now that the sweat is behind us, I can say we had so much fun and it was totally inspiring. Here are my favorite rugs from our new collection snapped in Breather spaces. I think it’s so cool to see them in such modern, well-designed spaces.
Same spot, different rug. How cool does it look combined with this mint lamp and chair? The mint chair has been on my mind ever since.
We had no luck with the weather the morning we shot this stunning berber carpet… but anyhow, it was so colorful that we forgot it was pouring rain outside! This super intimate Breather spot is hidden in the up-and-coming St-Henri, Montreal neighborhood. A super quiet spot for a meeting with your co-workers.
One of my very fave rugs from our new Boucherouite collection looks stunning in this equally mouth-dropping Breather space located right in downtown Montreal. I highly recommend this spot. Breathtaking, really.
One thing I really enjoyed about teaming up with Breather is that they have an eye for good design. The chairs, tables and accessories in their spaces are so good that we didn’t have to worry about finding the perfect furniture. I have a huge crush on the chair above. How cool is it paired with this stunning Moroccan rug from our new collection?
I can’t finish this post without saying a huge heartfelt thank you to my favorite stylist and precious collaborator, Camille (That’s her!) She totally rocked with this crazy idea of mine. Thanks girl, I know I’m a bit over the top! 😉
Check out our new Azilal and Boucherouite rug collection right here. They tend to fly out of the shop fast these days so don’t miss out, shop now! -Stephanie

In collaboration with Miss Cloudy, Baba Souk is hosting a series of creative workshops in its colorful Montreal loft! These picture were taken during our Valentine’s Day flower workshop. We had so much fun playing with flowers with the talented flower artist Hiromi Ono. It was the best Valentine’s Day ever.
Our next workshop will be so sweet! We’ve invited the talented cookie artist Johanie Les Biscuits for a special Easter workshop! You’re invited to the Baba loft, Saturday, March 26th, for a fun workshop where we’ll learn to make the prettiest egg and bunny cookies ever! The objective of this workshop is not to learn how to bake cookies but how to decorate cookies like a pro using royal icing! More info over here! -Stephanie
